Community compost spruce-up

Help us to spruce up the composting area at the YMCA Gallatown Hub.

Get stuck in and discover what it takes to turn an abandoned corner into a productive compost-making machine. We’ll be digging out and reassembling the compost bays, collecting and layering in nutritious materials, making signage, and getting the compost bays ready for regular use by the community. Learn everything you need to know about how to make healthy compost for use in your garden at home… or just help us dig. You can be involved with the parts of the work that interest you, and take a break whenever you want.

This is a family-friendly fun day! All ages welcome.

Participants have the chance to register for a free compost bin and/or food waste caddy to use at home, if you want to get your own composting operations going.

Cafe Inc will be present on site from 11:45-1pm as well if you’d like lunch.
