DESCRIPTION:Let’s talk seeds! Come along for a relaxed\, social event to find out more about the Fife Seed Library. We’ll talk about: \n\nwhy seed saving is important for food security\,\nwhy seed saving is good for your garden\,\nhow to save different kinds of seeds from flowers\, fruit and veg\,\nhow to recognise wildflowers in your area and harvest their seed to spread\,\nwhat even is a seed and how does it work?!\n\nWe’ll bring along some recently harvested local seeds so you can get hands on with sorting from the chaff and learning what different kinds of seeds are like. \nWe’d love to hear from you – what wildflowers are growing in your area\, and what would you like to see more of? What’s going on in your local community garden? Have you saved seeds and what has been the result? If you have any seeds you’ve saved this year that you’d like to share with the Seed Library Cabinet\, please bring those along too! \nHomemade snacks and hot drinks provided! \nAccess information: There are some small steps into the church hall and a couple of steps up to the Hall once inside. Parking is available in the bus turning circle area just down from the church in Main Street or on Oakley Road. There are toilets on site. \nThis event is organised in partnership with Saline and Steeland Environmental Group and the Drying Green community garden.

DESCRIPTION:Learn how to identify wildflowers in the seeding stage\, how to harvest\, process and store different types of seeds for re-sowing\, and everything you need to know to care for a wildflower meadow. \nJoin us in the morning or afternoon (or both!) at the StAndEN EcoHub! \nVibes du jour: \n\nSpend some relaxing time in the garden\, collecting seeds and observing nature.\nEnjoy a scything demonstration and learn how to sensitively care for a wildflower patch or meadow.\nAccess to flower ID books and local expertise.\nA chance to sit and chat\, while processing and sorting seeds.\nAsk us questions about your own green space\, and get advice on how to start your own wildflower meadow.\nTake some seeds home to start sowing immediately!\n\nTimetable (approximate – very flexible\, depending on participants’ interests\, and the weather!): \n\n10:30: arrive\, have a cup of tea\, meet the Seed Library\n11:00: garden walk and seed collection\n12:00: scything demo and Q&A\n13:00: break for lunch! Bring your own or pop out to get something.\n14:00: seed sorting and processing or another garden walk (or both)\n15:30: scything demo and Q&A\n16:30: farewell\, take some seeds to sow at home\n17:00 text everyone you know to gush about how good it was\n\nEveryone welcome\, no experience necessary.  Drop in and join us whenever you can\, and stay for as long as you like. \nThe EcoHub refillery will be open for sales\, so remember to bring your jars too! \nAccess \nThe EcoHub and garden have step-free access\, and there is an accessible toilet on site. \nRSVP here if you’d like an event reminder email.
