Wildflower planting with NHS Fife

Join us in transforming an open space in the heart of Kirkcaldy.

We’re turning grass into wildflower beds in partnership with NHS Fife, at the School of Health Sciences near Kirkcaldy train station. We need your help! What better way to kick of Climate Week? Come along prepared to:

• Move turf in wheelbarrows
• Shovel compost
• Mix seeds into sand
• Scatter the seed mix
• Net the flower beds

Come for a couple of hours or a full day. Please bring:

• A bottle of water to drink
• A packed lunch and snacks
• Suitable shoes and a raincoat
• Energy for physical work!

And if you have them:

• Gardening gloves
• A garden spade or fork
• A wheelbarrow
• A folding chair if you’ll want to sit down during your break

You’ll be instrumental in creating a beautiful space, visible from the train and bus routes in the middle of town. Wildflower meadows improve wellbeing of visitors to the site and passers-by, as well as creating critical habitat for pollinators and other creatures in urban areas. Once sown, the wildflower beds will blossom in spring, and continue to develop over the summer and into coming years. Leave a lasting trace!
