St Andrews Seed Saving Sesh

August 27 @ 1:00 pm3:30 pm
Free

Join us in the Seed Cabinet’s new host home to learn about seed saving! Find out:

  • why seed saving is important for food security,
  • why seed saving is good for your garden,
  • how to save different kinds of seeds from flowers, fruit and veg,
  • how to recognise wildflowers in your area and harvest their seed to spread,
  • what even is a seed and how does it work?!

We’ll be going for short walks around the EcoHub garden to look at their native wildflower collection, and collect some seeds from any plants that are ready.

If you’d like a relaxing, seated and social activity, you can help us sort and process seeds into packets to go directly into the Seed Library Cabinet.

You can also bring along seeds you’ve already saved for the Library, and take away winter crops or wildflowers that you’d like to sow.

This is a drop in event – come along at any time, and stay for as long as you like. If you’d like a reminder email, please RSVP below.

Afterwards: we’re heading to the St Andrews Botanic Garden to hear Holly Silvester from the Gaia Foundation and East Neuk Market Garden give a talk about an exploration into the radical possibilities of seed! You should come along to that as well 🙂
